God our Father pt.2

He also wants for us to see Him as our Father in the same way that Jesus did. So He poured forth the essence of Jesus as His Son into our hearts so that we would see Him as Father. If Father wanted us to be merely slaves, bowing down to Him and serving Him, performing His will, then He would have made us angels. Why? Because, that's exactly what they are, slaves, bowing down to Him, serving Him, and performing His

will.

Genesis 1:26

"Then God said, "Let us make man in Our image, according to our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

God has made us in the image of Christ. He has made us His sons and daughters, much greater than angels. That's probably why it angers Him when people bow down and

worship the angels. Listen to what Psalm 8:4-6 has to say for a moment.

Psalm 8:4-6

[4] "What is man, that You dost take thought of him? And the son of man, that You dost care for him? [5] Yet You have made him a little lower than God, and dost crown him with glory and majesty! [6] You dost make him to rule over the works of Your

hands; You have put all things under his feet." "You have made him a little lower than God," not the angels. Why is this so important? Why is it so important that you

know this? Because they are lower than us, not the other way around. God made us in whose likeness? His? Or angels? His. Which of the angels was made in His glorious image and likeness? For which one of them did Christ die? None of them!

Why, because they are slaves, and nothing more. Slaves serving Him exactly as they have been created to do since before the foundation of the world. Why is all of this important? God has made us His sons and daughters. We are made in the image and likeness of God! Christ died for who, for us, not them! We are over angels and the rest of creation. We are sons and daughters of the Most High, not angels!!

God has made us into gods as His children. I would like you to listen to what Jesus said when He was answering the Jews who were getting ready to stone Him because He said He is the Son of God.

John 10:34-38

"Jesus answered them, "Has it not been written in your Law, 'I said you are gods'? [35] If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken), [36] do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the

world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, "I am the Son of God'? [37] If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; [38] but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is

in Me, and I in the Father."

Where it is written in the Law that we are gods?

Psalm 82:1-8

[1] "God takes His stand in His own congregation; He judges in the midst of the gods. [2] How long will you judge unjustly, and show partiality to the wicked? [3] Vindicate the weak and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and destitute. [4] Rescue the weak and needy, deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. [5] They do not know nor do they understand, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. [6] I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. [7] Nevertheless you will die like men, and fall like any one of the princes." [8] Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who dost possess all the nations."

Now listen to verses 6-8. [6] "I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. [7] Nevertheless you will die like men, and fall like any one of the princes." [8] Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who dost possess all the nations."

Listen to this other example from Exodus, where the Holy Spirit again refers to us as gods.

Exodus 15:11

"Who is like You among the gods, O Lord? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders?"

We are sons of the Most High. Since we are made in His image and likeness, He says we are gods. By the words of whose mouth are we gods? Are we gods because of the words

of our mouths? No. By whose mouth do we know that we are gods?

The Holy Spirit is the one who has testified that we are gods. Jesus again bore witness to the testimony of the Holy Spirit when He answered the Jewish leaders who were

accusing Him. Listen closely to verse seven. "Nevertheless you will die like men, and fall like any one of the princes."

The Holy Spirit says even though we are gods from being sons of God, made in His image and likeness, that we will die regardless. And what does verse eight say? "Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who dost possess all the nations."

When I say that we are gods, am I saying that we are something equal to or greater than God? No! Of course not! Why? Even verse seven says even though we are gods, we will die like men. Verse eight says, God is the judge of the earth, and it is He who possesses all of the nations. So by saying we are gods, all we are doing is believing the words of God, and what He has said concerning us.

Let me ask you a question. Since both the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ have testified that we are gods, because we are made in the image and likeness of God, wouldn't anyone who says anything contrary to this be calling the Most High God and His only begotten Son a liar?

Now as gods by the words of the mouth of God, should we be worshiped and praised? No. What does the word of God say?

Deuteronomy 6:13-15

[13] "You shall fear only the Lord your God; and you shall worship Him, and swear by His name. [14] You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you, [15] for the Lord your God in the midst of you is a jealous God;

otherwise the anger of the Lord your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth."

Jesus is the King of all kings, and Lord of all lords. He is the paramount King over all the kings of the earth. Jesus is also the Lord of all the lords on earth. We can also say that He is the God of all gods. Now we know both from the testimony of Jesus and the

Holy Spirit that we are gods, because that is what God has called us.

Listen again to Psalm 82 verses 6-8. [6] "I said, "You are gods, and all of you are sons of the Most High. [7] Nevertheless you will die like men, and fall like any one of the

princes." [8] Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is You who dost possess all the nations."

We are gods because God said so. What does this matter? Are we to use this knowledge to seek our own honor and glory? Are we to seek our worship? Are we to seek praise

for ourselves? Are we greater than God? The answer to all of these questions is "no", except for the first one. The first question, "what does this matter?" is important.

So what does it matter to know whether or not we are gods? It is important to know what God has said and borne witness to concerning us. This is what He has called us.

Why? All of the worship, honor, glory, blessing, and praise go to God through Jesus Christ.

Here is another thing to think about concerning our being gods. When our parents made us, we inherited their physiological DNA and make-up, right? So, when God decided to cause us to be born again of His Spirit, we inherited His spiritual DNA and make-up. Also, read again Genesis 1:26 which says: "Then God said, "Let us make man in Our image, according to our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

"Let us make man in Our image, according to our likeness;" Why did God make us in His image? Why did He send Christ to die for us? Why did Christ walk the earth as a

man?

God made us in His image because He wants children like Jesus. He wants worshipers who are like Him, who see Him as He is, and who understand Him. We are made in His image and likeness. The first man, Adam was made in the image and likeness of God. He was the closest thing to God until Christ. Jesus on the other-hand is God. He was born by the power of the Holy Spirit. Are we not too born of the Holy Spirit through having faith in Christ? Listen to what Jesus says concerning us.

John 3:6

"[6] That which is flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
